How Do I Stay Positive To Keep Growing My Business When Things Are Going Poorly?

As a high-achieving entrepreneur you’re striving to achieve more business success. And yet – your business will throw lots of obstacles your way that may prevent the company growth you desire. Sometimes things may be going really poorly.

So how do you stay positive during those dire times – and why does it matter?

In the last decade I’ve noticed that my clients who adopt a positive attitude toward their business tend to achieve business growth faster (and with less worries).

So today, I'll reveal:

- What science is showing us about the correlation between happiness and success

- One easy strategy to help entrepreneurs adapt a positive mindset (even when things are going poorly)

What science is showing us about the correlation between happiness and success

A study published in 2021 in the Journal of Happiness and later summarized by the team at MIT Sloan Management Review, revealed that happier people achieve more.

Here’s an excerpt from the MIT Sloan Management Review, article:

"While we expected that well-being and optimism would matter to performance, we were taken aback by just how much they mattered. We saw four times as many awards earned by the initially happiest soldiers (upper quartile) compared with those who were un- happiest initially (lower quartile)--a huge difference in performance between those groups. This gap held when we accounted for status (officers versus enlisted soldiers), gender, race, education, and other demographic characteristics,"

But maintaining a positive and optimistic attitude in business can be extremely difficult. So how does one shift into a positive frame of mind?

One easy strategy to help entrepreneurs adapt a positive mindset (even when things are going poorly)

Write down all of your daily wins:

My favorite tip for keeping you positive - and a challenge I give all my clients when we first start working together, is to write down three wins every single day.

Why reflecting on daily wins works:

Our brains have a tendency to look for, and recall information that confirms our thoughts and beliefs, this is because of something called Confirmation Bias.

When we focus on our achievements vs. everything that’s gone wrong in our day - our brain will continue to look for more and more evidence of things going right.

A video with my top tip to adapt a positive frame of mind:

Because our thoughts influence our feelings – this habit will make us feel more optimistic as well. In my book The Up Level Project, I explain in detail how our brain digest information and how our thoughts, beliefs, actions and more influence our feelings and the results we gain. I also give an easy science-backed formula that makes it easy to adapt a positive mindset.
