Part 2: How To Crush It And Be More Productive

A big topic of discussion in my masterminds and private sessions is prioritizing time. Now, more than ever, people are struggling to get it all done.

So, in today’s episode of The Up Level podcast, I dive in and give you all my top tips for prioritizing your time better.

So grab a cup of your favorite beverage, put your feet up (or your walking shoes on), and enjoy this second episode on How to crush it and be more productive!

If you don’t have chance to listen, the full transcript is below. And in case you don’t have time to read the whole thing, here are some of the highlights:

And, I bet we’re going to start somewhere you weren’t expecting.

And that’s your language around the topic of time and prioritization.

1) Language is a tool to increase productivity

Know that you will never have enough time.

And, yes, I know you may be going, “but I really don’t have enough time,” and I promise I’ll get to that in a minute, but first, you have to commit to stop saying things along the line of, “I don’t have enough time”.

And here’s why: when you speak those words, it indicates a lack mentality - i.e., your mindset is in “lack land” and so, as a result of confirmation bias, your mind will keep focusing on finding proof to back up your story of not having enough time. Your brain is literally busy looking for evidence to show you that your statement, “I don’t have enough time,” is true!

The next word to remove from your vocabulary is the word, “try.”

In my book, The Up Level Project: Your Guide to Unlocking Higher Profits While Creating More Freedom, I give a detailed explanation of how words influence the results we get and also provide a science-backed formula to help you uplevel your language and align your beliefs to attain the results you want, faster and easier than ever before.

To keep things quick and easy today - I’ll give an example: A lot of my clients will say they “will try to make it more of a priority,” and do you know what that tells me? That they are not committed to making that a priority. You can’t try to make things a priority. It either is or is not a priority.

Our words have a lot of power in helping us succeed! So, choose yours carefully.

Ok, now let’s dive into the more practical steps, shall we?

2. Cut your to-do list in half with these practical steps

When my to-do list gets overwhelmingly long, I usually ask myself a few questions to identify what needs to happen first.

And the questions are:

  • What steps are sure to bring in revenue/leads?

You always want to do the tasks that will bring in money first because those are the steps that will help you build a sustainable and profitable business more quickly.

  • What is going to be the most fun way to do this/what’s going to be the easiest way to do this?

  • What’s urgent and what’s important?

This little gem I got from Marie Forleo.
And the idea is that you do the urgent thing first and the important thing later.

  • Should I be doing this, or can I outsource it?

This will tell you if something should even be on your to-do list.

  • What is the purpose of this action (is it bringing you closer to your big vision for your biz?)?

3. These not-so-obvious strategies also increase productivity

  • Know when your most productive hours of the day are and make sure that you do the bulk of your work then.

  • Be realistic with your to-do list.

  • Monitor your energy.

  • Take a break to help you to be more productive. You have to take a breather.

  • Plan out tomorrow, today. Before you sign off for the day, always look at your list, plan the next day’s list, and prioritize it.

Finally: Remember to schedule breaks to help you to be more productive and plan out your schedule. Your breaks, workouts, when you’ll work, and on what!
